Due to the fact that I was still in Karlsruhe (see What a party) and that I’m still in battle with my cold/flu I couldn’t watch the match today, so I’m really looking forward to the match report.
One thing’s for sure though: we’ve taken the top spot (2opts) because the top match was postponed (which leaves Dersim and Besigheim with 19pts) :-)

Now that was a nice match. Could have been 0-7 or 0-10 easily, but hey, I don’t complain :-)

Oooh no! The tie doesn’t help either team…we had the chance to go up to first place, now we’re stuck in third place (14pts). Dersim is down one place to 2nd place (16pts) and Besigheim (which we’ll play in a few weeks) are up to the top (16pts, but better goal-difference).

Now we need to win the next games (especially against Besigheim) to stay in the championship race…

Rain rain rain. So we had to play on artificial turf, yet again, but as it’s also our training pitch we’re quite used to it anyway so no worries. After a lot of missed opportunities we finally score the go ahead goal and two more followed till half time, 4 more in the second half.

Not a brilliant game, but we did what we had to do and are now only 2 points behind first place with the “clash of the titans” 2nd (we) vs. 1st (Dersim Ludwigsburg) coming up on October 10th.

Personal: played the last 15minutes :-) , referee ruled me offside twice (one wrong decision)…no shot on goal :-(

A really bad game on a worse pitch…2 late goals secure 3 important points….there were times where we would have lost such a game.

Personal: hmm…a 14 player squad…so almost guaranteed playing time one may think….bah! 10 seconds…ooooh… :x :-( [Strike 2]

Not bad…although the match was really bad. After being down 0-1, and 1-2 we came back to really shoot them out of the place (the score could have been 8-4 easily in the end)…

So, I gave them a whirl yesterday and boy are those shoes sweet. With the Traxion system they’re real easy on your feet (minimal stud pressure). I gotta say: thumbs up! The first time in over a year that my ankles aren’t hurting after a training (I guess I should have invested in new shoes earlier :-) )…

Oooh…the fastest ebay transaction ever. Won the auction on tuesday, payed via paypal on wednesday, delivered today!

They’re playing a league above us, but still no reason to go down like that…on another note: that way we can totally focus on the league play now, which isn’t bad at all as we intend to run for the championship this year!

On a side note: despite the promise to start the players who didn’t play last sunday I only played the last 15 minutes of the match… :-( [Strike 1]

Well… FCM II 7-1 TV Aldingen II :-)

Not bad…on the downside the match wasn’t as good as the result may suggest…and I didn’t play yet again…hmm…let’s see what happens wednesday (cup match)…

FCM II 1-1 Höpfigheim

After handing out an early goal (4th minute) it was a hard battle with one victim on our side. He was hit on the head during a header and had an immense bleeding. I drove him to the hospital where they had him stiched up. During that time we tied the score 1-1.

We had some other chances to score the winning goal, but failed. So it’s us in the midfield of the table…unsatisfying to say the least…

Ouch…I didn’t anticipate that, but I guess it’s a logical decision due to my recent (and current) groin strain and the connected problems – especially if you’ve got a reservoir of 20 people ready to dress up (after all only 11 + 3 can play anyway).

I guess I will use the spare time (team meeting is always 1.5h prior to the game) for a little extra sleep and relaxing time – always gotta look on the bright side ;)

I don’t know if you already knew, but I’m a passionate tabletop football (“Kicker”) player. Yesterday evening my mate Kai (see links: mates) went to our favourite pub Cafe Provinz (german description on Wikifun.de) . It’s an quite amazing pub with a lot of different people ages 16-40+.

A while back we met Hans there, he’s a member of a band called “Helle Hefe”, one of the best players in the Cafe and one of our biggest rivals when it comes to tabletop footie – but don’t get me wrong: we’re playing for fun and get along real well…but yesterday evening we had a real streak of bad luck…(we do a summary (overall standings) each time we play and we lost 1-9 ).

A little “Cafe” rule check

• Games are played 2 vs. 2 if not stated otherwise
• Games are played to 6, if a match is 5-5 the next goal decides (closest result 6-5)
• A challenge can be put forth at any time: the loser of the current match leaves and the challenger tries to beat the team already in play
• The new challenger pays if you run out of balls (3 games = 1 Euro, 1 game = 11balls)
• Trash talking is allowed, but be careful not to write cheques with your mouth that your arms can’t cash in ;-)
• Depending on the players involved a 0-6 game loss may result in the need to buy the other team a schnaps

Last friday was the last friendly match of my football team FC Marbach II (=second team) before the new season starts this sunday (29.08.2004). I couldn’t play due to a minor groin sprain, but I’m confident that I can pickup training again on wednesday and I’m hoping that I’ll be on the squad on sunday…
