How championship dreams…

…can go up in flames in less than a week. After the recent success in our first match after the winterbreak (12-0 vs Hochdorf) we lost against one of our main competitors (SC Ludwigsburg) 2-3 on saturday. Today we wanted to get back some points against SGV Hoepfigheim II, but we didn’t – instead we lost another two points by playing 1-1.

Now it’s not looking good at all: before the two matches we were only one point behind 1st place and were clear 4 points to 3rd place. Now we’re stuck in 2nd place (but only due to the fact that SC Ludwigsburg still has a game more to play) with the competition back in the game (SC Ludwigsburg did their homework today by winning 6-0) and the first place is out of reach for now (6points)…

Boy oh boy…

Current standings:

  1. Dersim Ludwigsburg – 14 games played – 37 points
  2. FC Marbach II – 14 – 31 points
  3. SC Ludwigsburg – 13 – 29 points
  4. TSV Ludwigsburg II – 13 – 26 points
  5. Türkspor Oberstenfeld II – 14 – 21 points
  6. GSV Höpfigheim II – 12 – 21 points
  7. TSV Neckargröningen II – 14 – 20 points
  8. KSV Besigheim – 14 – 19 points
  9. Anadolu Marbach – 14 – 14 points
  10. TV Aldingen II – 12 – 13 points
  11. SKV Erligheim II – 14 – 12 points
  12. SGV Hochdorf II – 14 – 6 points
  13. Spvgg Schlößlesfeld II – 12 – 3 points

Age of Mythology – Game 7

The first 6 player game ever and a really interesting one. After a slow start (losing all the early battles) it really came down to the end…Kai, Nico, Ralf and me had the chance to win, but I blew it (not buying a winnig point with the main temple) – Ralf built the wonder and hence won, despite a tie between him and me (the first tie-breaker rule: whoever builds the wonder is winning in case of a tie)…

Final Standings:

  1. Ralf – 8 points (tie-breaker rule: he built “the wonder”)
  2. Ingo – 8 points
  3. Ines – 2 points
  4. Nico – 0 points
  5. Kai – 0 points
  6. Wolf – 0 points

Overall winning standings:

  1. Ingoal – 3 wins (7 games played)
  2. Ralf – 2 wins (7 games played)
  3. Ines – 1 win (5 games played)
  4. Nico – 1 win (6 games played)
  5. Jens – 0 wins (1 game played)
  6. Wolf – 0 wins (1 game played)
  7. Kai – 0 wins (6 games played)

78 out of 250…could be more (as I’m a true movie nut) although some of those movies are just too old for me (I really don’t like ooold movies all that much)…

Recent absence

Yes, I’m still alive – didn’t have much time to post something though. With an exam coming up on friday I’m trying to study as hard as possible and spend as little time online as possible. I’m really looking forward for this thing to be over as my head is full, full, full of knowledge waiting to burst out. Hopefully everything will be fine, I guess you can’t do more than prepare properly – I’ll find out on friday and keep you updated (I guess Saturday)…

So, here’s a quick round-up of things:

  • Fantasy footie Weeks 27 and 28 (34 points/929 points total – 10 points/939 points total)
  • It seems that after three weeks of canceled matches we’re going to play on sunday – thank god, it’s really hard to get into gear when you’ve been training for around 8 weeks (after the winter break) without a single real match (we’ve played some friendly matches, but that’s just not the real deal)
  • I’ll be around more after the exam as mentioned above. One exception though: Sat April 2nd – Sat April 16th…VACATION  (more about that soonish)

PWD

PWD = Posting while drunk…I can’t even remember the last time I came home after 6am, but now it happened again (6:21am here). Nice birthday party of my mate Bernd!

I think it’s time to get at least some sleep until the next birthday party of my mate Welf goes down tonight…boy you gotta enjoy those back-to-back birthday parties….

Commonly Confused Words – Test

Advanced Beginner
You scored 100% Beginner, 73% Intermediate, 81% Advanced, and 55% Expert!
You have a good understanding of beginner and advanced commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of the beginner and advanced level questions correct. You didn’t get as many of the intermediate level questions correct, but don’t fret. This is not a bad score at all. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don’t use them properly anyway. You got a respectable score.

Not bad as english isn’t my first language

New car stereo

Finally my new car stereo is (almost) completed. Today the long awaited new rca-cables arrived, so I ripped apart half my car (you wouldn’t believe how much stuff you have to remove to pass some cables from the frontend to the rearend of the car. But now it’s done and the sound is brilliant (finally no generator noises in the system anymore  )!

In the process of revamping my car stereo I used the following new components so far:

  • Sinus Live Bandpass to replace the crappy Magnat Tube
  • new speaker cables for all rear components (high-quality cables with diameter of 2.5mm (speakers) and 6mm (subwoofer))
  • new MxM-Germany RCA-cables, triple shielding, aluminium-foil isolation, 24karat gold connectors

Now only the new front speaker are missing – as soon as they arrive my “dream-machine” will be completed

Roundup

It’s been some days since I lasted posted some “major content”, so now that I’ve got some spare time, I thought I should do a roundup of things:

  • I decided that two exams covering 7 different academics is just too much, so I signed off one exam yesterday (the one covering 2 academics, as I’m already on a good way to master the one with 5)
  • Today parts of my new car audio system arrived, namely the new amplifier (as the old one gave up on me over a week ago) and a new subwoofer (Sinus Live DB 250) to get some nicer bass-sound. I spent 1.5h today to mount everything properly and pass some new lines. Sure enough the tweeters got a nasty whistle now…so I will have to pass the new RCA (“Cinch”) cables, I just ordered, next week…then everything should be   (hopefully)…
  • NBA News: So the Philadelphia 76ers acquired All-Start forward Chris Webber – cool, maybe that’ll result in an more interesting eastern conference (Philly: A.I. + C-Webb, Miami: Shaq + Flash). Apart from this trade there were numerous others right before the trade deadline – Boston got Antoine back, Dallas landed Keith van Horn, Golden State got Baron Davis…crazy stuff going on, you can read all the transactions here
  • Personal sports: After the last match was canceled due to snow, it seems that the upcoming match on sunday is canceled, too. There’s just too much snow on the pitch (we trained on about 20cm of snow on wednesday which wasn’t all that much fun). This isn’t all that good as we’re all hot to get the season started again, then again it’s a free sunday, so why do I complain ;-)
  • International Football: All in all it’s not looking all too good for german teams in both UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup. CL: Bayern 3-1 Arsenal  , Leverkusen 1-3 Liverpool  , Bremen 0-3 Lyon   . UEFA Cup: Aachen, Schalke and VfB Stuttgart all out
  • Apple launched the new iPod Mini…didn’t have the chance to have a look at it, but will do so asap…

That’s it for now. Hopefully I’ll have more time to post over the next few weeks as I’ve got a little bit less stress now that I canceled one exam…

So long…have a great weekend!

NBA Allstar Game 2005

Not a bad game so far, although I’m missing the whole “Showtime” basketball a little bit. More layups, three-pointers and turnovers (West already more than 20) than nice dunk/alley-oops. I don’t know if it’s the thin air up in mile high city or what? The only real highlight so far: Vince “Air Canada”/”Vincanity” Carter’s pass to himself of the glass…

On another note: 04:48am…I guess I’m going to get some sleep now as I’m really tired and this game isn’t keeping me on the edge of my seat at all (this is really the first time I’m not watching an NBA allstar game till the end)…so, I’ll call it a “night” – Go Dirk! Go West :-)

Update: So the East won it 125-115 and Iverson got the MVP award…so I guess my decision to get at least some sleep was right

Firefox downloaded 25 million times

Wow, now that’s a nice number! I guess more and more people are at least giving it a try as there (almost) nothing but praise for it found around the net. In celebration of that the Mozilla Store is offering 25% rebate on Firefox T-Shirts, polos, plush-toys and hats until 11:59 PM EST on Thursday, February 17. So get yours. (More infos can be found here).

No wonder that Microsoft sees the need to release IE 7 earlier than planned
